Games2Win (G2W)
has launched Slapster, its first application on the social
networking site Orkut. The 2D application is based on the genre of
humour where friends can come together and have fun.
“We
believe the web is not only about consumers accessing content but
content going to consumers. There are so many people on social
networking sites, that we found a strong need to introduce a
application there,” Games2Win Founder and CEO Alok Kejriwal told
AnimationXpress.com.

Slapster, users can virtually slap their friends. To personalize the
experience and make it as real as possible, the application allows
for a friend’s profile picture to be added to a male or female
avatar. Users can then use their mouse to click and drag a trembling
hand and strike with maximum force. The application also allows for
users to state their reason for slapping.
Slapster provides an outlet for frustration and anger and is
fun at the same time. The users that slap for enough times at
breakneck speed get a Slapster badge to display.
Kejriwal said, “The application is based on one of
Games2Win.com's popular games 'Thapa Ka Thappad' and
considering the tremendous response Slapster is getting, we are
planning to rename the original game Slapster."
Commenting on Slapster’s differentiating factor he added, “A
simple inconspicuous ‘poke’ is getting to be passé. Users are now
looking for more expressive ways to communicate with friends, but
they want to keep it light and fun at the same time. Slapster gives
them this outlet.”
The
application, produced in-house by four artists, took around four
months to complete as it had to adapt to the language of the
site.
“Games2Win is planning to launch eight more humor-based games
within the next eight weeks, on the world’s five leading social
networking sites,” revealed Kejriwal.
